Werner Schönleber is the Vintner of the Year
The Gault Millau 2006 has again granted us the highest honours. This time, not only our 2004 collection is recommended with highest praises, but also Werner Schönleber is given the title of "Wintner of the Year", which is one of the highest honours a German vintner can ever receive. They write: "No matter wether it is a dessert wine, fruity, dry or halfdry wine, Werner Schönleber always succeeds in giving his wines from Halenberg and Frühlingsplätzchen an inner balance and a tension in its mineral characters, which shows perfectly the ability of Riesling to reflect the terroir just like a mirror. Our congratulations to our "Vintner of the Year" for his supurb colleciton."

Junior
officially joins the Winery
In the last five years, Schönleber Junior, Frank, has already been increasing
his influence on the improvements of Schönleber's wines. Now that he
has graduated from College of Geisenheim with a diploma in vinticulture
and oenology, he is officially joining the parents' winery dedicating
his whole energy to the family business. The aim is to secure and improve
the achieved quality standard by working on the details accordingly.
No revolution is intended, but instead carefully working on further
refinements of the Schönleber's stye in wine making.
The focus of both Werner and Frank Schönleber is set on the Monzinger
terroirs Halenberg and FrElingsplätzchen, whose characteristics should
be to the greatest possible extent recognizable in their wines.

Third

Once again, our current wine collection was successful in the competition

vintage 2004 placed third amongst the 481 wineries entered from all
over Germany.

Financial
Times: excellent markings for the vintage 2004
In the British newspaper Financial Times, wine journalist Jancis Robinson
wrote her reports after having tasted six wines from our 2004 collection.
Her markings were between 16.5 for the FrElingsplätzchen Kabinett trocken
and 19 (out of 20 full marks) for the Halenberg Eiswein, which she describes
as "Extremely rich, dense and racy. Lots of fruit, purity and, rare
in an Eiswein, complexity. Excellent."

Wine&Spirits:
2003 outstanding
In the United States, our 2003 vintage obtained high markings. Wine&Spirits
gave 90 or more points to six wines from our 2004 collection. Their
statement concerning the Halenberg Trockenbeerenauslese was, "[...]
Clearly 2003 is an outstanding vintage for Emrich-Schönleber and this
TBA represents the pinnacle of the collection."

Vintage
2004 goes on sale
Finally, they are ready. Those who appreciate dry wines had to wait
for quite a long time, as above all the dry wines were sold out early,
but now the vintage 2004 is finally listed. Just as expected, it is
similar to the extraordinary vintage 2002 in its characteristics, expressed
in incredible elegance, concentration and fine fruitiness. New in the
list: a grand cru (Großes Gewächs) from the vineyard FrElingsplätzchen
available, and the 2003 Grauburgunder "Reserve" is a novelty as well.
Both of them will go on sale at the same time with the best quality
wines of Halenberg in September.
